Before Term 3 begins..........let's remember the last days of Term 2!

Technology Day
Technology day is a highlight of our school term.
During this challenge the school is divided into teams made up of children from each year level.
The challenge is to use boxes and sellotape to create a 'Marble Run'.
The 'Marble Run' has to include some very specific details but the most important element is the way in which we work together as a team and ensure that we are all involved and valued.
This term saw some fabulous creations and we all learned that working together brings the greatest rewards!

We have a pile of boxes......what do we need to achieve?  I know........let's check the 'Success Criteria'.

I am the best sellotape manager!

The marble run is beginning to take shape!

Every member of the team plays an important role.

I am concentrating.......

........very, very hard!

I am a valued member of my team!

So am I!

Me too!

Collaborative learning.

The all important......MARBLE!

Still hard at work gathering sellotape!

One of our Marble Runs completed!

Thunder, Lightning......Electricity is exciting!

Today we investigated the components that make up a simple circuit.
We know what the following things are:
  • cell battery,
  • cell battery holder,
  • lamp,
  • lamp holder,
  • wires,
  • switch.
We are putting our circuit together.

Where do I put these wires?

Here they go!

Got it!  Circuit complete.

Teenagers can be tricky......and so can 'teen' numbers!

We are learning to read, write and recognise our 'teen' numbers.  We are also learning to identify a 'teen' number as being made up of 'one ten and some more'.

Take a look at how clever we are!

One ten and two more is twelve!

We are busy creating our teen numbers!

One ten and four more is fourteen.

One ten and seven more is seventeen.

Yay!  I have made one ten.

We are busy working in our jelly bean shop.....remember we can only put ten jelly beans in each container!

Yes....eighteen is made up of one ten and eight ones!

Seventeen is made up of one ten and seven ones!

Shape it, make it, paint it!

We had the good fortune of having a real-life sculpture artist (Uncle Keith) visit our school some weeks ago.  We finally had the opportunity to paint our creations today.

They are looking fantastic and we can't wait to take them home!
