Hihi's on the water!

Our two week swimming programme has come to an end and our Hihi class are confident and competent swimmers.

The progress made over these 8 sessions has been significant.

We are so super proud of how our children coped with what has been two VERY busy school weeks!

Swimming Stitchbirds in Stanmore Bay!

The Hihi Class have been thoroughly enjoying dipping their wings into the pool at the Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre.

Monday to Thursday our Hihi class have been seen frolicking in the water performing dives, 'arm circle' swimming, bubble blowing and expert kicking!
It has been wonderful watching the confidence in our class grow each session and it has been heart-warming hearing each child proudly share the new swimming technique that they tried or even mastered!
Water confidence is an essential part of our learning, especially given the gorgeous coastal environment we are so lucky to live near.
Keep it up Hihi!
Summer is coming and I am sure that we will see many Hihi at the Hibiscus Coast beaches this year!

The sun was shining and the Hihi birds were singing!

We had a fantastic trip to Tiritiri Matangi last week.
The stunning weather enabled us to see some beautiful New Zealand birds.

Our highlight was seeing the Hihi - we were thrilled to spot both a male and female Hihi!

We also saw three Wetapunga.  This stunning insect can grow as big as 10cm in body length - Mrs McLeish was pleased that the one we saw wasn't as big as that!

We absolutely appreciated the expertise of Tiritiri Matangi guides and we also want to send out a big THANK YOU to all of our helpers!  We couldn't do it without your support!

I know that I can't wait until our next visit!
