Yee Ha - You had better watch out Cowboy cos we all got Disco Fever!

The Disco on Friday 24th June was a huge success!

Fantails flew around the room - dancing, playing limbo games, eating hotdogs and rounding up an unusual heard of mechanical animals.

Thank you to the Wentworth Families and Friends for your amazing support with this event.  The money that you raised goes to support our World Vision charity.  Thank you all so much.  These events would not be so successful without your hard work.
We really appreciate it!

Churchtown Primary School - Meet Franny the Fantail.

Kia Ora (means 'Hello' in Maori) and welcome
Churchtown Primary School.

This year we are partnering with Churchtown Primary School in Southport, United Kingdom.  The aim of this is to share with the children of Churchtown Primary a little bit of New Zealand life.  They will get to see what we do after school, where we go on the weekends and who we are as New Zealanders.  In return we will get to view the blog of our Churchtown friends and see what life looks like in the United Kingdom.

We look forward to getting to know you and we can't wait for you to read all about our adventures with Franny the Fantail!

Can you guess how the Fantail got it's name?

Our classroom is named the Fantail classroom because we are like fantails.
We are fun, energetic, curious and always darting here and there!

Meet our Fantail class!

Franny the Fantail (Piwakawaka - Maori word for Fantail) is our classroom mascot.

We will be sending Franny home each week with one of our Fantails.   Franny will take part in the everyday activities that we do and we can't wait to share these with you on this blog.

Kia Ora Churchtown Primary - Check out what Franny got up to last week!

Great reading Franny!

You make me feel like dancing!

Yee Ha!  Our disco had a 'Western' theme.

Franny is learning to do the splits on the balance beam ;-)

WINTER - an acrostic poem written by the Fantail classroom.

WINTER – written by the Fantail classroom

When the snow falls on the trees
I cuddle up in my blanket
Night brings a cold freeze
Tonight I snuggle with Mum
Every winter’s night a fire keeps me warm
Rain freezes as it falls to the ground.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5....once I SAW a fish alive.......and a Shark, and an Eel, and some Penguins!

Our topic this term has been 'Our Environment and Climate Change'.

In particular we have looked at the things we do that directly impact the habitats of other living things on our Earth.

We have discussed the ways in which we can 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle' everyday objects to ensure we are being Environmental Superheroes!

We took a trip to Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life Aquarium to further investigate our topic.

Check out the fun we had!

Can you spot the Eel?

Coral.
A turtle shell!
The iced water is SOOOO cold!

Fantails - Ready to Go!

Things are about to get a little 'Topsy Turvy'.

Don't fall over Mrs McLeish!

Penguins, Penguins....Everywhere!

A starfish!

Look!  What type of creature is this? :-)

It was all a little bit too much fun for some of us.

Forces for courses!

We have been investigating 'Forces' during Science.

We can discuss the importance of 'Gravity'.

We know that 'pushes' and 'pulls' are forces.

Today we experimented with soft and hard pushes and pulls, and discovered how these forces impact our toy train.
