We have implemented a Perceptual Motor Programme into our Physical Education (PE) sessions (for Year 1 and 2 students) which aims to help us develop an understanding of:
- time and space,
- ourselves and our world,
- the laws and limitations that govern control over our bodies and the way they move.
I know that this will sound a little crazy but.......
MOVING MORE leads to SITTING STILL.
The more we move our bodies the greater our ability to control our bodies to sit still!
Take a look at the things we have been doing in PE.
Above and Below: What are we doing? READING! To catch the feathers we need to track the feather with our eyes - we do this when we are following the words in a story. |
Above and below: More READING! |
Above: Crawling - Did you know that we need 400 hours of crawling in our early years to help us develop our muscle tone, visual skills, spatial awareness and midline development? |
